The river 1

summer 22-23. Berlin daily.

Good evening, I’m Aimé C. Songe and I would like to thank you for being here, with us, with the river. Before the performance starts  I will give a little introduction, you can sit or move around the park, look a trees, relax after a long day maybe and and mostly remember to breath, breath softly and quietly.

This performance was created in order to listen to the river. It is a chance for you to have a particular encounter with the river. Connecting to this river means going away from the solid earth into a liquid environment, a world of dreams in which time is no longer linear.

There are 5 different hosts (Shannon, Zinzi, Asaf, Thiago and me) each has prepared stories for you, that you will hear along the trip. The performers are not performing for you, they are here to hold your experience and the performance frame.

This performance could have been called floating listening, as you are invited to be on the boat and listen to the river.

I came to the idea of proposing this performance after I experienced loss, fear and grief. I realised then that being on the water, was very much helping me to let go of what could be, being softly rocked by the water like a child by a loved one.  And as well to take charge for what I could. I hope you can also experience a little of this relief, there is nothing to decide but to let it happen. while you will go away from the shore I hope this thoughts will accompany you.
